Town Treasurer

The Town of Appomattox is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time position of Town Treasurer.  Performs highly responsible administrative and professional work in the coordination of the financial operations of the Town.  Work includes official responsibility for accounting, for all receipts and disbursements; prepares a variety of financial reports; processes payroll; manages cash balances; prepares and manages grant programs; directs and conducts audits and prepares and presents reports; prepares the operating and capital budget with guidance of the Town Manager and implements Town policies; performs work independently with initiative and exercises independent judgment; utilizes advanced administrative and financial skills to address a wide range of work situations involving highly sensitive and confidential information; and works with other Town employees, Council members, elected officials and the general public.

MINIMUM SALARY:  $46,110 with final compensation depending on experience and CPA status.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, business administration, or other relevant field supplemented by three years of progressively responsible financial management experience, preferably in a local government setting; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.  CPA preferred; experience with grant management and investment knowledge preferred.

Town Manager

The Town of Appomattox is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time position of Town Manager. Performs complex administrative and professional work, managing the day-to-day operations of the Town.  Responsibilities include enacting all policies and directives of the Town Council; submitting, monitoring, and executing the Town Budget; receiving reports from and giving direction to, all heads of offices, departments and boards or committees of the locality under his/her control and supervision;  keeping Council fully advised on the locality’s financial condition and its future financial needs; attending all meetings of the Council and such meetings of committees and boards as the Council may direct; overseeing all personnel functions of the Town; and performing other duties as assigned by the Town Council.

Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field preferred with documented knowledge and/or experience which enable the Candidate to perform the stated job duties; valid Driver’s License.  The Town is willing to train the right Candidate, if necessary.   Starting salary for this position DOQ and includes all benefits as offered to Town employees.  The job range will be commensurate with the regional market for such position.  Complete job description and application can be obtained at the Town Office and online at http://www.townofappomattox.com/.
