Applications Accepted for Interim Town Council Seat

The Town of Appomattox is currently accepting applications for the appointment of an interim Town Council seat to fulfill the seat which will be vacated by Council Member Nathan Simpson, due to his election to the Appomattox County Board of Supervisors. This appointment is in accordance with Sections 24.2-226(C) and 24.2-228(A), of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended.   The following are requirements to be considered for the appointed position: (1) be a qualified voter in the Commonwealth of Virginia; (2) be a resident of the Commonwealth of Virginia for at least one year immediately preceding the election; (3) be a resident of the district you will represent for at least one year before the election; (4) continue to be a resident of the district for the duration of your term; (5) be at least 18 years of age; and (6) the ability to take an oath to faithfully execute the duties incumbent upon you for the office.   Applications for the position of Interim Council Member can be filed with the Town of Appomattox through December 1, 2025 by 4:30 p.m. Applications should be directed to the Deputy Town Clerk, Dianne Tanner.   An application can be obtained at the Town Municipal Building at 210 Linden Street, Appomattox, Virginia 24522, or by contacting the Deputy Town Clerk at dtanner [at] appomattoxva.gov (dtanner[at]appomattoxva[dot]gov).   Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Deputy Town Clerk, Dianne Tanner, at (434) 352-8268.
